On the beautiful day of October 17th, 2026, five youth from the Waukesha Trap Team participated in a pheasant hunt at Cackle Creek sponsored by Veterans Afield U.A. From the beginning to the end of the event, all youth exhibited excellent gun safety as seen by the pictures where the breeches are open and in a safe position.
The pheasant hunt was very successful as the youth got 13 out of 20 birds. There were five roosters that had a pink ribbon tied on their legs. If one of these birds were shot, the shooter would receive a $25 gift card. The young shooters did a good job getting three of these five roosters.
After a successful day of hunting, each of the youth received a plaque in recognition of their participation and a Veterans challenge coin from Veterans Afield. Following this, the youth participated in a photo session, luncheon, and a lesson on how to clean pheasants, courtesy of Cackle Creek Game Farm.
This was so successful that we plan to make this an annual event! Way to go! We're all looking forward to 2027!
